Besides the plethora of dance performances, workshops, art exhibitions and other fun-filled activities on offer, the festival’s musical line-up is what draws most visitors to it. The 2018 festival was no different, featuring some of the biggest names in the Latin music industry from across the globe.
One of the most anticipated concerts at the 2018 LatinVillage Festival was that of Cuban singer Omara Portuondo. The 87-year-old singer and dancer, known for her soulful voice and spirited performances, did not disappoint her fans as she sang some of her most popular songs such as “El Manicero” and “Dos Gardenias”. Her performance left many of her fans in awe, with some describing it as a surreal experience they would never forget.
Another notable performance was by American DJ Diplo. Known for his eclectic mix of electronic and world music, Diplo had partygoers dancing non-stop throughout his set. The fact that he brought along several surprise guests onstage only enhanced the already hyped-up atmosphere.
Mexican-American pop singer Becky G also took to the stage, with a stunning rendition of her recent hit single “Mayores”, while Brazilian singer Ludmilla got everyone grooving to her signature blend of funk and R&B in Portuguese.
But it wasn't just about international performers; local Dutch bands and singers also had an opportunity to showcase their talents. One such act was Jarreau Vandal, a Dutch DJ who played a mix of old-school hip-hop and futuristic beats to a rapturous crowd.
With its pulsating tunes, electrifying performances and enthusiastic crowds, LatinVillage Festival 2018 cemented its reputation as one of the best summer festivals in The Netherlands. Concertgoers can hardly wait for next year's edition, eager to see even more exciting performances from Latin music’s brightest stars.
