June 25th, 2016 was a Saturday like any other, but for music lovers, it was a day to look forward to. A number of big concerts were lined up across the country, featuring some of the biggest names in the music world.

At the Glastonbury Festival held in Somerset, England, Canadian singer-songwriter, Leonard Cohen made his last ever live appearance, taking to the stage at the Pyramid Stage. The event was an emotional one, with around 100,000 people in attendance as the 82-year-old singer performed some of his most popular songs.

Meanwhile, thousands of miles away in New York City, American singer-songwriter, Mariah Carey brought the house down with her concert at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The diva wowed her audience with her amazing vocals and spectacular wardrobe changes throughout the night.

Also in NYC, The Governors Ball Music Festival took place over three days on the beautiful Randall’s Island. Headliners included Kanye West, The Strokes, and Robyn. One of the most unforgettable moments was when Kanye West brought out Nas to perform their collaboration track "We Major."

In Ireland, the Belsonic festival was in full swing with electronic dance duo Disclosure headlining the show, featuring guest performances by Kwabs and soul vocalist Nao. Thousands of fans danced the night away under the summer sky to tunes such as “Latch” and “Magnets.”

Lastly, Austin, Texas hosted the Bat Fest, which saw more than one million bats flying out from under the Congress Avenue Bridge. Live bands performed throughout the night, including The Spazmatics and Suede Panther.

Overall, June 25th, 2016 was a fantastic day for concerts all around the world. With a diverse range of artists performing and millions of fans coming together to enjoy good music, it truly highlighted the important role that concerts play in our lives. Despite the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, concerts are slowly returning and we can only hope that they will continue to provide the same joy and excitement as they did on this day in 2016.
