2017 Semoball Awards Tickets

The 2017 Semoball Awards took place on June 12th at the Osage Centre in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. This annual awards ceremony recognizes the outstanding achievements of high school athletes in southeast Missouri.

Throughout the evening, various categories were acknowledged, including Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Team of the Year, just to name a few. Each award was presented by local sports personalities, making the event even more special for the recipients.

The most coveted award of the evening was undoubtedly the Male and Female Athlete of the Year awards. This year, they were awarded to Jonny Onyeze of Sikeston High School and Grace Mirly of Jackson High School. Both athletes demonstrated remarkable talent and dedication throughout their high school careers and were well-deserving of such recognition.

In addition to acknowledging individual achievements, several teams were recognized for their exceptional seasons. This year's Team of the Year honors went to Jackson High School girls' soccer team and Charleston High School boys' basketball team.

It was not only the athletes that were recognized but also the coaches who work tirelessly behind the scenes to mentor, train, and prepare these talented individuals. Keith Gatrell of Sikeston High School was named Coach of the Year for his contribution to Sikeston's successful track season.

Of course, the night would not be complete without honoring those who have made a significant impact on sports in the Southeast Missouri community. This year's Lifetime Achievement Award went to Bill Robinson, a former athletic director at Southeast Missouri State University. Robinson dedicated his life to promoting and supporting community athletics, leaving behind a lasting legacy.

The Semoball Awards provide an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of high school athletes and coaches while bringing the community together in support of local sports. These inspiring young athletes serve as role models for future generations, and their accomplishments remind us of the importance of hard work, determination, and dedication in achieving our goals.
