Another popular event was the hammer throw where athletes spun in a circle before releasing a weighted ball attached to a metal wire handle. The aim was to hurl the ball as far as possible. This event required immense strength and technique, and it was clear to see the competitors had trained rigorously to master this skill.

The stone put competition also required a combination of strength and technique. Athletes had to launch a large sphere-shaped stone as far as they could using their bodies in a throwing motion. The competitor who throws the stone the furthest distance wins the event.

The Sherman Celtic Festival also featured several races including a hill race and a heather run. These races tested the endurance and stamina of the athletes running uphill, over rough terrain and through narrow pathways.
