The Alabama Crimson Tide has a long and storied history in college sports, particularly in football. However, their success is not limited to just one sport. The Crimson Tide women's basketball program, while not as well-known as their football team, has also had its share of successful seasons.

Under the leadership of Coach Kristy Curry, who took over the program in 2013, the team has made significant strides. In her first season at the helm, the team finished with a record of 14-16, but they have steadily improved since then. In the 2017-18 season, the Crimson Tide finished with a record of 20-14, marking the first time in program history that they achieved 20 wins in a season.

The following season, the team finished with a record of 14-17, but they continued to make progress in other areas. Junior guard Cierra Johnson was named to the All-SEC First Team, becoming the first Crimson Tide player to earn that honor since 2005. Johnson was also the leading scorer for the team, averaging 17 points per game.

The 2019-20 season was a bit of a mixed bag for the Crimson Tide. They finished with a record of 18-12, but they struggled in SEC play, finishing with a record of 8-10. Despite this, the team made it to the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament before their season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

One thing that sets the Alabama women's basketball program apart from others is their commitment to community service. The team has participated in numerous events and initiatives to give back to the Tuscaloosa community, including volunteering at food shelters and participating in charity walks and runs.

Looking ahead to the 2020-21 season, the Crimson Tide will have some significant challenges to overcome. They lost three seniors, including Johnson, who was the driving force behind much of the team's success in recent years. However, they will also have some talented freshmen joining the roster, including guard Jasmine Walker and forward Alexiah Ford.

Despite the challenges, Coach Curry remains optimistic about the future of the program. "We've got a great group of young women who are committed to improving every day," she said in a recent interview. "I'm excited to see what this team can accomplish."

While the Alabama Crimson Tide women's basketball program may not be as well-known as their football team, they have been making steady progress in recent years. With a commitment to excellence on and off the court, the future looks bright for this up-and-coming program.
