In 2012, the team won the Lone Star Conference championship and made it to the CIF championship game, but ultimately lost to the Wichita Force. In 2012, the team signed former NFL star Terrell Owens to a contract. Owens had not played in the NFL since 2010 and was looking for a way to continue his football career. Owens only played in two games for the Wranglers before being released due to what the team cited as a breach of contract.
The controversy surrounding Owens did not stop there. In May of 2012, the team announced that they had relieved Owens of his duties as co-owner of the team. The team cited Owens' failure to fulfill his obligations as co-owner as the reason for his dismissal.
Despite the controversy surrounding Owens, the Allen Wranglers continued to play and compete in the CIF. In 2019, the team announced that they would be joining the Indoor Football League (IFL) for the 2020 season. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the IFL season was canceled, and the Wranglers did not take the field.
The Allen Wranglers have seen their fair share of success and controversy in their short time as a franchise.
