Amy Anderson is a dynamic comedian who has been captivating audiences with her quick wit and infectious personality for over two decades. A seasoned performer, she’s known for her sharp observations about everyday life, sassy delivery, and fearless commentary on cultural issues.

Born and raised in Korea, Anderson was adopted by an American family when she was just six months old. Growing up in the Midwest, she found herself often isolated and felt like she didn’t quite fit in. However, comedy became her outlet - a way to connect with others and express herself. She started performing stand-up while studying at Minnesota State University, using her experiences as an Asian-American woman to find original material that quickly resonated with audiences.

From there, Anderson went on to pursue comedy full-time, honing her skills on stages across the country. In 1998, she achieved a major milestone, becoming the first female and person of color to win the World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas. Her success continued to soar as she landed high-profile gigs including appearances on The Ellen Show, Last Comic Standing, and Comics Unleashed.

Anderson also found time to give back to the community, hosting and producing comedy benefits for organizations such as PETA, Ronald McDonald House, and Sacramento Children's Home. In 2015, she founded the Semi-Annual Adoptee Comedy Shows series in Los Angeles, which highlights adoptees in the entertainment industry and raises awareness about adoption and foster care.

As a comedian, Anderson’s unique perspective shines through in her work. She unabashedly tackles topics that can be considered taboo, from race to gender to sex, all while making audiences laugh and think. Her humor is relatable without being pandering, and her style is distinctive without being divisive.

In recent years, Anderson has become increasingly involved in the writing and production side of comedy. She co-wrote and starred in the pilot for A Little Brown Sugar, a comedy series about a Korean adoptee searching for her birth mother. She’s also written and produced multiple shows for the Hollywood Fringe Festival, including the comedy musical I Came to Make Friends (And Win).

Amy Anderson is not just a groundbreaking comedian - she’s a force to be reckoned with in the entertainment industry as well. Her decades of work have paved the way for future generations of diverse comedians, proving that comedy can be a powerful tool for social change as well as laughter.
