Anthony Johnson, also known as "Rumble," is a retired American mixed martial artist who gained recognition for his devastating knockout power and impressive physique. He competed in several organizations during his career, including the UFC, WEC, Strikeforce, and World Series of Fighting.

Johnson was born on March 6, 1984, in Dublin, Georgia. He started wrestling in high school and continued to do so in college. However, after struggling to make weight for a wrestling tournament, he started training in boxing to improve his conditioning.

In 2006, Johnson made his professional MMA debut in the California-based organization, Combat Fight League. After gaining experience in regional promotions, he signed with the WEC in 2007, where he won four straight fights before moving to Strikeforce.

In Strikeforce, Johnson established himself as a top contender in the welterweight division. He defeated notable fighters such as Charlie Brenneman and Dan Hardy before earning a title shot against Nick Diaz. Although he lost that fight, Johnson's ability to cut down to the welterweight limit became a significant issue.

After missing weight multiple times, Johnson moved up to middleweight and later light heavyweight. It was in the 205-pound weight class where he found his most significant success. In 2014, he returned to the UFC and scored impressive knockouts over Phil Davis and Alexander Gustafsson, which earned him a title shot versus Jon Jones.

Despite losing to Jones, Johnson remained a force in the division and knocked out former champion Andrei Arlovski in a one-off heavyweight bout in 2015. He then moved back down to light heavyweight and defeated Jimi Manuwa before challenging Daniel Cormier for the UFC light heavyweight title in May 2015.

Unfortunately for Johnson, he lost to Cormier via submission and suffered another defeat at his hands in their rematch in 2017. Following that loss, Johnson announced his retirement from MMA.

In addition to his MMA career, Johnson has also ventured into bodybuilding and recently signed with the Professional Fighters League (PFL) as a commentator. He remains one of the most feared strikers in MMA history and left an indelible mark on the sport.
