The Arizona Sundogs were a minor league hockey team located in Prescott Valley, Arizona. They played in the Central Hockey League (CHL) from 2006-2014 before folding due to financial difficulties.

Minor league hockey is a breeding ground for young talent to develop and eventually make it to the NHL. It provides an opportunity for players who may have been overlooked or passed over in the draft to showcase their skills and potentially earn a chance at the highest level of professional hockey.

The Arizona Sundogs were no exception to this model. Over the course of their eight-year existence, they saw numerous players come through their system and go on to play in some capacity at the NHL level. Some notable alumni include Chad Costello, who won multiple CHL MVP awards during his time with the Sundogs before going on to play in the AHL and briefly with the Dallas Stars in the NHL, and Alex Leavitt, who led the CHL in scoring in 2012-13 before moving on to play in the ECHL and AHL.
