The team’s most notable accomplishment was making it to the Elite Eight in 2017. The Pirates also have a loyal fan base who wear black and gold to support their team at home games.
The women's volleyball team is another standout program for the Pirates. They have won multiple Peach Belt Conference titles and have made appearances in the NCAA Tournament several times. In 2008, they reached the Final Four of the NCAA Championships, which was an incredible feat.
In addition to basketball and volleyball, the Pirates’ softball team has been a dominant force in the conference for many years. They have won nine Peach Belt Conference championships and have advanced to the NCAA Tournament multiple times. Their success is attributed to their talented players and dedicated coaching staff.
The Pirates’ soccer program is also very competitive, with both the men's and women’s teams winning multiple conference titles. The teams have advanced to the NCAA Tournament multiple times, with the women's team reaching the Sweet Sixteen in 2015.
Despite its size, the Armstrong State Pirates’ athletic program has proven to be one of the best in the region. With a focus on developing successful student-athletes both academically and athletically, the Pirates have created a culture of excellence that has allowed them to thrive year after year. These athletes are role models for other aspiring athletes and are the pride of a great institution.
