The Belmont Bruins are a Division I baseball program in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC), that was founded in 1890. They have an illustrious history, with several conference championships and NCAA tournament appearances. In 2004, they made their first appearance in the NCAA tournament after winning the OVC championship. Since then, they have made two more NCAA tournament appearances in 2008 and 2011.
The Bruins have had several talented players pass through their program who have gone on to play professional baseball, such as Zach Osborne and Matt Beaty. In fact, on June 3, 2021, three former Bruins – Clayton Richard, Jamie Ritchie and Chase Brookshire – were named to the OVC’s 75th anniversary baseball team.
Belmont's success in baseball can be attributed to their exceptional coaching staff led by head coach Dave Jarvis who has been leading the program for over twenty years. Coach Jarvis and his team have stressed the importance of student-athletes being well-rounded individuals both on and off the field. He has implemented a culture of hard work, dedication, and commitment to teamwork that has led to many great results.
In addition, Belmont University has invested heavily in their baseball program with the construction of Rose Park, a new state-of-the-art facility. The park features an artificial turf playing surface, top-notch lighting, a large video board, indoor hitting cages and meeting rooms. It has quickly become a hotspot for recruiting talented players from across the country.
