Bobby Flay is a well-known celebrity chef and restaurateur, but you may not know that he has a connection to theater as well.

Flay got his start in the culinary industry working in various restaurants, eventually becoming the executive chef at the age of just 26. In the late 1990s, he landed his own cooking show on Food Network, "Grillin' & Chillin'," which led to numerous other shows and appearances on the network.

But it was in 2011 that Flay made his foray into the world of theater. He was approached by Lorin Latarro, a Tony-nominated choreographer and friend of his, who asked him to be involved with a new musical she was working on called "Gotta Dance."

The premise of the show revolves around a group of senior citizens who audition to be part of a hip-hop dance team for the halftime show of a professional basketball game. It's a fun and heartwarming story about chasing your dreams and breaking down barriers.

Flay's role in the show is as the "celebrity judge" of the auditions. He appears in a few scenes, tasting food from the various characters and providing his feedback. While it's not a major role, it was clear that Flay was having a great time on stage.

In an interview with The New York Times, Flay said, "It's so refreshing to be around people who are passionate about something different than what I'm passionate about. It expands my horizons and makes me realize there's so much more out there."

"Gotta Dance" premiered in Chicago in December 2015 and moved to Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre in February 2016. While it ultimately wasn't a commercial success, it received positive reviews and was beloved by many who saw it.

Flay's involvement in "Gotta Dance" proved that he has a knack for performing and entertaining outside of his culinary expertise. It's possible that we may see him appear in more theater productions in the future.

In addition to his brief stint on stage, Flay has also been involved with cooking for several theater productions. He created recipes for the 2013 Broadway revival of "The Trip to Bountiful" and provided catering for the 2014 production of "Mothers and Sons."

Bobby Flay may be best known for his cooking, but his connection to theater shows that he has a wide range of talents and interests. From cooking for productions to performing on stage himself, it's clear that Flay enjoys being part of the theatrical world.
