Brent Butt has spent over three decades in the comedy industry, and during that time, he’s become one of Canada’s most beloved and respected comedians. Born on August 3rd, 1966, in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, Butt began his career as a stand-up comedian before moving into television and film.

As soon as he started performing on stage, it was clear that Brent Butt had a gift for making people laugh. His observational comedy style allowed him to connect with audiences on a universal level, and he quickly became a popular performer in clubs across Canada.

In the early 1990s, Butt landed a role on the sketch comedy show, ‘On the Road Again,’ which gave him exposure to a national audience. However, it wasn’t until he created and starred in his own series, Corner Gas, that Butt truly made a name for himself.

Corner Gas, which aired from 2004 to 2009, broke records as the most-watched sitcom in Canadian television history. The show was set in the fictional town of Dog River, Saskatchewan and followed the daily lives of its quirky residents.

Not only did Butt create and star in the series, but he also wrote many of the episodes and served as executive producer. The success of the show led to a feature film adaptation, ‘Corner Gas: The Movie,’ which was released in 2014.

Since Corner Gas, Butt has continued to work in television and film, both in front of and behind the camera. In 2018, he created another sitcom called ‘The Butts,’ which he also starred in alongside his wife, Nancy Robertson. The show explored the ups and downs of being married in a blended family and was based on Butt’s own experiences.
