The Central Illinois Flying Aces was first founded in 1986 and was called the Danville Wings. However, in 1994 the team moved and was renamed the Springfield Blues, where they played until 2006 when they were then purchased by the Bloomington Blaze organization. In 2017, the team changed their name yet again, this time to the current Central Illinois Flying Aces.
The team's logo depicts an eagle with a star on its chest, representing a fighter jet squadron crest during World War II. The colors of the team are red, white, and blue, which represent the American flag. The logo is meant to symbolize bravery, determination, and patriotism. The name "Flying Aces" comes from the old nickname given to fighter pilots in the war, which just adds to the historical element of the team.
The Central Illinois Flying Aces plays their home games at the Grossinger Motors Arena. The rink is situated in downtown Bloomington and has a capacity of around 6,000 people.
