Skidmore’s love for theater started at a young age when she was involved in her high school drama program. After graduating from Cal State Fullerton with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater, Skidmore dove headfirst into the theater scene in NYC. She took on various roles including producer, actress, and writer. Soon, Skidmore found herself co-hosting a weekly comedy show called “Vagabond” at the renowned comedy club The Stand.
Through her work in theater, Skidmore has demonstrated her ability to write and produce both strong dramatic and comedic works. In 2017, she wrote and produced a one-woman show titled “The Dead Dad’s Club” which explores her experience coping with the loss of her father through a witty and darkly comedic lens. Her performance was met with praise and recognition.
In addition to her work as a theater artist, Skidmore has also found success in other mediums. She has appeared on television shows such as MTV’s “Wild n Out” and Comedy Central’s “Lights Out with David Spade”. Her stand-up comedy has been featured in numerous festivals around the country including the New York Comedy Festival and San Francisco Sketchfest.
Skidmore’s versatility and talent have landed her opportunities to work alongside some of the entertainment industry’s biggest names. She has opened for comedians such as Jeff Ross and worked alongside noted director Spike Lee.
Despite her diverse body of work, Skidmore’s passion for theatre remains evident. She continues to perform in and produce innovative works that push the boundaries of what constitutes modern theater. Furthermore, her writing serves as a reminder of how humor and drama can be expertly blended together to create thought-provoking and unforgettable works. With her relentless pursuit of excellence in theater, Chelsea Skidmore is a force to be reckoned with.
