Cheyney Wolves Football Tickets

Cheyney University is a small, historically black college located in southeastern Pennsylvania. Though it may not have the same football program pedigree as larger universities across the country, the Cheyney Wolves football team still represents an important aspect of college football.

Like many smaller colleges, the Cheyney Wolves compete at the Division II level of college football. While not as well-known as Division I programs, Division II football still provides athletes with the opportunity to play a high level of football while also receiving an education from a smaller, more personal campus environment.

Cheyney University has had its share of successes on the football field over the years. In 1978, the Wolves won the Eastern Division championship of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), solidifying their place as one of the better football programs in the conference. In recent years, however, the program has struggled to find success on the field. However, there’s a new energy being brought to the program by Head Coach Hassan Shakir and his staff who took over the program in December of 2020. The hope is that this new direction will lead to a successful season and a turnaround for the future.

Beyond just the performance on the field, Cheyney Wolves football serves as an avenue for student-athletes to pursue higher education, build relationships with teammates, and develop valuable life skills. Coaches and trainers work with players to not only maintain their physical health but also to help them manage their time, develop strong study habits, and become leaders on and off the field.

Small college football programs like Cheyney University’s offer unique opportunities for both athletes and fans alike. Fans can enjoy a more intimate game day experience, with a shorter commute and smaller crowds. Athletes, meanwhile, get to develop a sense of camaraderie and brotherhood with their teammates that can last long after their playing days are over.

So while Cheyney University may not be a football powerhouse, the Wolves are still an important part of the college football landscape. They represent the smaller, community-driven college experience while also providing athletes with the opportunity to play the sport they love at a high level.
