Chowan University Hawks has quickly become one of the fastest-rising collegiate athletic programs in the country. Based in Murfreesboro, North Carolina, the Hawks compete in the NCAA Division II and the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). The school offers many opportunities for student-athletes with more than 20 varsity sports program in total.

It's no secret that the biggest draw among the Hawks' athletics program are the football games. Chowan University Hawks football team competes in the CIAA just like the nine other members of the conference. Since 2007, the Hawks have been competing as an independent before joining the conference fully in 2011.

Over the years, the Hawks' football team has enjoyed several successful seasons under the tutelage of Coach Tim Place. A seasoned veteran on the sidelines, Place helped the team achieve its first winning season in more than a decade back in 2015.

Place's leadership has changed the way the team prepares, competes, and ultimately how they play the game. In 2016, the team went all out, having one of their most successful campaigns ever. They ended up winning seven of their ten games, securing their second consecutive winning season.

Chowan University Hawks sports programs extend beyond the football field. The softball and baseball programs have also had impressive runs in the recent past. The women's soccer program, cheerleaders, volleyball team, basketball team, and cross-county teams are other sports Chowan University Hawks offer.

The women's soccer program managed to clinch the No.1 seed in the CIAA division in 2019, thanks to an unbeaten regular season. The softball program, on the other hand, has managed to produce many championships since its inception.
