In terms of varsity sports, Colorado College participates in NCAA Division III athletics in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). The school fields teams in nine different sports, including basketball, soccer, lacrosse, and tennis, among others.
While the level of competition may not be as high as that of larger schools in Division I, CC's athletes still take their sports seriously and work hard to succeed. In fact, several alumni have gone on to play professionally in their respective sports, including NHL players Jaden Schwartz and Curtis McElhinney.
Hosting events like Tiger Night and homecoming are opportunities for students to show their support for the athletic programs. Additionally, many students participate in club sports and intramurals, ranging from ultimate frisbee to broomball.
Beyond organized sports, the Colorado Springs area offers several outdoor activities for students to enjoy, such as skiing, hiking, and mountain biking. Students often take advantage of nearby mountains, parks, and national forests to stay active and fit.
Overall, while Colorado College may not have the same level of sports dominance as larger universities, the athletic programs still offer plenty of opportunities for student-athletes to excel and foster school pride. Plus, with its location in the heart of the Rockies, there are endless options for outdoor recreation beyond traditional varsity sports.
