Born in San Juan, Texas, Cristela Alonzo was the youngest child in a family of four siblings. Despite growing up in difficult circumstances, she remained determined to pursue her dreams of becoming an entertainer. She began performing stand-up comedy in her hometown at the age of 21, and later moved to Los Angeles to further her career.
In 2009, Cristela gained national recognition when she became the first Latina to star in her own primetime sitcom, "Cristela."
