The DCF or Dubai Comedy Festival is an annual event that brings together some of the funniest comedians in the world. This year, the festival was held from 17th to 24th June and featured an exciting lineup of comedy performers.

One of the highlights of the festival was the opening ceremony which saw the performance of renowned UAE-based comedian, Ali Al Sayed. Ali delivered a hilarious set that left the audience in stitches while simultaneously addressing some serious issues. The act incorporated elements of satire, parody and irony with a focus on societal aspects such as race, culture and stereotypes.

Another exceptional performance was that of American comedian Dave Chappelle. Known for his political commentary and edgy humor, the comedian had the audience roaring with laughter before ending the show with an emotional tribute to Prince.

The final day of the festival was dedicated to local talent showcasing their acts. The performances were in Arabic language and represented an opportunity for talented comedians across the UAE to shine. Established comedians such as Omar Kazim and Ahmad Al Shammari took to the stage offering refreshing insights into Arab culture laced with humor. Comic Ali Faysal got the crowd going with his unapologetic observations about the trend of westernization in the UAE.

Throughout the festival, the content served to satirize current events but also aim at raising awareness on a range of challenging topics. Attendees of the festival reveled in the heady mix of stand-up comedy, sketch comedy, improvisation and other forms. The diversity and vibrancy of the performers was plain to see.
