Doc Gooden and Darryl Strawberry Tickets

As two of the most talented and notorious players in Major League Baseball history, Dwight "Doc" Gooden and Darryl Strawberry have long been familiar personalities to sports fans everywhere. But now, the former teammates are making a name for themselves in an entirely different arena: the theater.

Both Gooden and Strawberry have enjoyed successful careers outside of baseball, with Gooden working as a broadcaster and Strawberry serving as a motivational speaker and counselor. But in recent years, they have both turned their attention to the stage as well. Gooden has made his acting debut in the off-Broadway play "Bronx Bombers," while Strawberry has found success in producing plays and musicals.

For Gooden, his role in "Bronx Bombers" was a chance to explore a new side of himself. The play chronicles the history of the New York Yankees, and Gooden plays the part of Reggie Jackson. Although he had never acted before, Gooden says he was immediately drawn to the opportunity.

"I've always been interested in theater and movies, but I never imagined myself being an actor," he told the New York Post. "But when I got the script for 'Bronx Bombers,' I knew it was something I wanted to do."

Strawberry, meanwhile, has focused on producing, primarily through his company, Straw World Productions. His most notable project to date is the Broadway musical "Sistas," which tells the story of African American women from the 1930s through the present day.

For him, producing has allowed him to bring his passion for storytelling to life in a new and exciting way.

"When you're producing a play or a musical, you get the chance to take an idea that's in your head and turn it into something tangible," he said in an interview with Playbill. "There's nothing like seeing a show come together and come to life on stage."

Both Gooden and Strawberry have faced their fair share of challenges over the years, both on and off the field. But for them, theater has provided an opportunity to explore new sides of themselves and to connect with audiences in a deeper, more meaningful way.

"I think there's something special about live theater that you just can't get from any other form of entertainment," Gooden said. "For me, it's been an incredible experience to be a part of that world and to see how people react to the stories we tell on stage."

As for what's next for these two baseball legends-turned-thespians, only time will tell. But one thing is for sure: they'll continue to bring their unique talents and perspectives to whichever stage they find themselves on.
