Born in Goiania, Brazil, Lima discovered his love for martial arts at an early age. He began training in karate when he was nine years old and transitioned to Brazilian jiu-jitsu when he was fifteen. In 2006, Lima decided to pursue a career in MMA and signed with the International Fight League.
Lima quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the IFL, earning a string of impressive victories against some of the top fighters in the league. Following the IFL's collapse, Lima moved on to fight for various regional promotions before signing with Bellator MMA in 2011.
Since joining Bellator, Lima has dominated the welterweight division with his explosive striking and knockout power. He won his first title in 2014, defeating Rick Hawn to claim the vacant Bellator welterweight championship. Lima would go on to defend his title twice before losing it to Andrey Koreshkov in 2015.
Despite the setback, Lima rebounded in spectacular fashion, knocking out Koreshkov in their rematch to recapture the Bellator welterweight title in 2018. He successfully defended the title again in 2019, defeating Rory MacDonald in a five-round battle that earned him the unanimous decision victory.
With a professional record of 32-9, including 24 wins by knockout, Lima has established himself as one of the greatest welterweights in MMA history. His thrilling fights and devastating finishes have earned him legions of fans, and he continues to be regarded as one of the most exciting fighters in the sport.
