The DSL Tigers were established in 1989 and have been affiliated with the Detroit Tigers since then. They play their home games at the Tiger Complex in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
The team's primary mission is to develop young talent and prepare them for a career in professional baseball. Many of the players on the DSL Tigers are teenagers or in their early twenties and are still developing their skills and learning how to play the game at a high level.
