Dundee United FC is a Scottish professional football club based in the city of Dundee, Scotland. The club has a rich history and a strong presence in Scottish soccer, having won several major titles throughout their existence.

Founded in 1909, the club was initially known as Dundee Hibernian before merging with another local team to become Dundee United in 1923. They made their debut in Scottish First Division in 1925 and earned promotion to the top-flight league later in the year.

Throughout their history, Dundee United have had both successful and challenging seasons. Their biggest achievements came in the 1980s when they won the Scottish Premier Division title in 1983, the Scottish League Cup in 1979 and 1980, and went on to reach the UEFA Cup final in 1987 where they lost to Gothenburg.

Under various managers and coaching staff since then, the club has experienced mixed fortunes, bouncing between divisions and struggling financially at times.
