Farmingdale State College, also known as FSC, boasts an impressive and successful sports program known as the Farmingdale State Rams. The Rams are part of the Skyline Conference and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III. Since their inception, they have become a force to be reckoned with in the world of college sports.
The student-athletes at FSC have proven time and time again that they are dedicated to not just improving themselves but pushing their team to success. They are continually setting new standards throughout their respective sports. The programs include basketball, lacrosse, volleyball, tennis, soccer, cross country, track and field, indoor and outdoor, and baseball.
Basketball is one of the cornerstone sports for FSC, and the men's team has seen recent success. In the 2019-2020 season, they produced a 25-3 record, including a Skyline Conference Championship victory. They advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight year, marking another historic achievement for the program. Likewise, the women's basketball team also had a stellar record, reaching a 22-6 overall record and earning a spot in the conference tournament.
Lacrosse is also another sport that has generated massive attention throughout Long Island, with both the men’s and women’s teams consistently ranked among the national top five in total defense. The men’s team won the Skyline Conference championship four consecutive years from 2010 to 2013 and again in 2016. The women’s team won its first-ever Skyline Conference championship in 2016, and have since competed in the ECAC playoffs.
Farmingdale State also boasts one of the most dominant Women's Volleyball programs in the Division III classification. They are a regular fixture in the playoff picture, and in 2019, the Rams dominated the Skyline Conference en route to their seventh straight title. The team lost in the Regional Semifinals against Worcester State, bringing to an end their bid for a fifth consecutive tournament appearance.
The soccer program has seen success as well. Men's Head Coach Donald Manfredonia led the Rams to three straight Skyline Conference Championships from 2012-2014, and the women's coach Eva Danihel has proven herself as one of the best coaches today with her ability to consistently develop talent that can go on to play professionally.
Farmingdale State also boasts competitive Division III teams in tennis, cross country, track and field, both indoor and outdoor, and baseball. All these sports have created a rich sporting culture that goes beyond the college grounds. Fans from all over New York come out to support the Farmingdale State Rams as they compete fiercely against some of the best teams in their respective conferences.
In conclusion, the Farmingdale State Rams is a dominating force when it comes to college sports. The student-athletes at FSC are putting Long Island back on the map within the sports world by working relentlessly to bring home conference championships and national recognition. The sky is the limit for this amazing athletic program, and we cannot wait to witness what achievements may stream forth for the Rams!
