Friends University may not be the first school that comes to mind when thinking of comedy, but the Wichita, Kansas-based institution has had its fair share of comedic talent pass through its halls.

One of the most notable alumni is comedian and actor Rob Riggle. Riggle graduated from Friends with a Bachelor's degree in Theater and Film in 1992. He went on to become a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, a cast member on Saturday Night Live, and a regular on shows like The Office and Modern Family.

Another Friends University graduate who made a name for herself in comedy is Mary Lynn Rajskub. Rajskub studied music at Friends before pursuing a career in stand-up comedy and acting. She is perhaps best known for playing Chloe O'Brian on the hit TV series 24.

Comedy is also alive and well on campus at Friends University. The school offers a variety of improv and sketch comedy classes through its theater department. Students can take courses like "Comedic Improvisation" and "Sketch Writing and Performance" to hone their skills and develop their comedic voice.

In addition to classes, Friends' theater department puts on a variety of comedy shows throughout the year. These range from improv nights to full-scale productions of classic comedies like Neil Simon's The Odd Couple. The department also hosts an annual comedy festival, which brings in experienced professionals to teach workshops and perform for the community.

Beyond the theater department, students at Friends can also get involved in the school's comedy club. This student-run organization provides a platform for up-and-coming comedians to showcase their talents in a fun and supportive environment. The club hosts regular open mic nights and comedy shows throughout the year, giving students the opportunity to perform and connect with other comedians.

All in all, Friends University may not have the reputation of a top-tier comedy school like Second City or UCB, but its alumni and current students prove that the school has a vibrant and growing comedy scene. Whether you're looking to pursue a career in comedy or just want to have some laughs with your peers, Friends offers plenty of opportunities to get involved and develop your comedic chops.
