Goldey-Beacom currently has eight varsity sports teams. These include men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s baseball, women’s softball, women’s volleyball, and men’s golf. All of these teams compete in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC).
Despite being a small school, the Goldey-Beacom Lightning have made a name for themselves in the world of college sports. In 2018, the men’s basketball team won the CACC championship and advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Division II National Tournament. This was the first-ever appearance in the national tournament for the team. The women’s basketball team has also had a lot of success, making it to the CACC playoffs several times in recent years.
The Goldey-Beacom Lightning men’s soccer team has also had a lot of success on the field. They have won the CACC championship six times, most recently in 2019. The women’s soccer team has also reached the CACC playoffs multiple times.
Other teams at Goldey-Beacom are also making strides towards success. The men’s baseball team has made it to the CACC playoffs the past two years in a row, while the women’s softball team won their first-ever playoff game in 2019. The women’s volleyball team has steadily been improving, and the men’s golf team has also reached new heights with a third-place finish in the CACC tournament in 2018.
Despite not having a large student body or a huge budget, the Goldey-Beacom Lightning are showing that they can compete with the best of them. They have talented athletes who are dedicated to their sports and are being coached by experienced and knowledgeable coaches.
Overall, Goldey-Beacom College and its athletic teams have been making waves in college sports, and it will be exciting to see what they accomplish in the years to come.
