Born on May 5, 1969, in Stoughton, Massachusetts, Graham Elwood’s career path began when he graduated from Boston University with a degree in Film Production. After college, he moved to Los Angeles to begin his stand-up career.
Elwood initially became known for his quick-witted and politically-oriented performances, which often touched on topics ranging from social issues to religion, and he gained popularity in the years following the September 11 terrorist attacks. This led him to perform for U.S. troops stationed overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan as part of the “Comedy War Tour” in 2003.
In addition to his stand-up work, Elwood has also found success as a writer, actor and director. He wrote and directed his own independent film, Laffghanistan: Comedy Down Range, and has appeared in several movies and TV shows including Curb Your Enthusiasm, That 70s Show and The Sarah Silverman Program.
Despite his many successes, Elwood has also faced some personal challenges. He has struggled with alcoholism and addiction, and has been open about his experiences with recovery and mental health.
Throughout it all, Elwood has remained dedicated to his craft and to bringing laughter to audiences around the world. In recent years, he has co-hosted the popular progressive political talk show, The Jimmy Dore Show, and frequently performs live shows across the country.
As the comedy industry continues to evolve, Elwood remains a vital and dynamic presence in the industry. His unique blend of humor and social commentary continues to resonate with audiences, and he continues to inspire and entertain with every performance.
