Grand Rapids Rampage was a professional indoor football team based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The team played its home games at the Van Andel Arena from 1998 to 2008. The Rampage were one of the most successful teams in the Arena Football League (AFL) during their tenure.

The team was originally founded in 1997 as an expansion franchise in the AFL. Led by coach Michael Trigg and quarterback Chuck Shelton, the Rampage quickly emerged as a force in the league. The team made its first playoff appearance in 2001 and went on to win the Arena Bowl championship in 2001 with a 64-42 victory over the Nashville Kats.

The Rampage continued to be a consistent playoff contender for the next several years, reaching the postseason six times from 2001 to 2007. In 2005, they made it all the way to the Arena Bowl XXVIII before falling to the Colorado Crush.

One of the keys to the Rampage's success was their high-powered offense. The team consistently ranked among the league leaders in scoring and passing yards, thanks in part to standout quarterbacks such as Jim Kubiak and James MacPherson. The Rampage also had several talented receivers, including Terrill Shaw and Cory Fleming, who helped to stretch the field and create big plays.

In addition to their on-field success, the Rampage were also known for their passionate fan base. The team regularly drew large crowds to the Van Andel Arena, which became a raucous and intimidating environment for visiting teams.

Despite their success, the Rampage faced a number of challenges in their later years. The AFL underwent several changes in ownership and structure during this time, and the Rampage struggled to compete financially with teams in larger markets. In 2008, the team announced that it would be folding due to financial difficulties and the overall instability of the AFL.

While the Rampage are no longer active, their legacy lives on in Grand Rapids. The team remains a beloved part of the city's sports history, and many fans still fondly remember their thrilling games at the Van Andel Arena. In particular, the championship season of 2001 stands out as a highlight of Grand Rapids' football history, and a testament to the Rampage's skill, dedication, and passion for the game.
