This was only the beginning, however, as Llewellyn went on to become the Principal Guest Conductor of the Royal Flanders Philharmonic in Antwerp, Belgium from 2009 - 2014. Prior to this appointment, he had conducted several concerts with the orchestra as a guest artist.

From 2014 - 2021, Grant Llewellyn served as the Music Director of the North Carolina Symphony, where he led the ensemble in a wide range of programs and performances. During his tenure with the orchestra, he was widely credited with expanding the repertoire of the North Carolina Symphony. In addition to his work as a conductor, Llewellyn is also a prominent composer. His works have been performed by orchestras such as the National Orchestra of Wales and the BBC Philharmonic.
