Gunnar Nelson is a Icelandic mixed martial artist who has achieved global acclaim for his performances inside the octagon. With an impressive record of 17 wins and only 5 losses, Gunnar Nelson's love for martial arts began at a young age. His father Haraldur Nelson, a fourth-degree black belt in Shotokan karate realized his son’s interest in martial arts and started training him at the age of three.

Nelson’s first introduction to MMA came after watching the UFC as a teenager and since then he has never looked back. He began his professional career in 2007 with bouts in Europe before making his way into the popular promotions Cage Warriors and BAMMA.

Nelson made his UFC debut in 2012 against DaMarques Johnson and quickly proved his worth by submitting his opponent with a rear-naked choke in the first round. His performance was enough to earn him the “Submission of the Night” bonus that night. Since then, Nelson has gone on to become one of the most exciting fighters in the welterweight division, earning praise from fans and fighters alike.
