Hoda Kotb is a well-known television personality and journalist who is best known for her work on NBC's Today show. However, before becoming a popular host, Kotb had always been interested in the world of theater.

Kotb was born in Norman, Oklahoma, but grew up in Morgantown, West Virginia. She attended college at Virginia Tech, where she studied broadcast journalism and worked at the university's radio station.

After graduating in 1986, Kotb began her career as a news anchor and reporter for local television stations in various cities across the United States. In 1991, she landed a job with CBS News in Egypt, where she covered major events such as the Gulf War and the assassination of Anwar Sadat.

But despite her successful career in journalism, Kotb never forgot about her love for theater. In fact, she often used her journalism background to help her pursue acting opportunities.

One of Kotb's earliest roles was in a community theater production of "Fiddler on the Roof" in Mississippi. She played the role of Tzeitel, one of the daughters of the main character Tevye.

Kotb also acted in a few off-Broadway productions while working as a journalist in New York City. Her most notable role was in a play called "Burleigh Grime$," which was written by Roger Kirby and directed by Tony Award-winner Jack Hofsiss.

The play, which ran at the New York Theatre Workshop in 1993, was a dark comedy about a group of young actors struggling to make it in Hollywood. Kotb played the role of Robin, a naive aspiring actress who ends up getting involved with a con artist.

Although Kotb's acting career didn't take off like her journalism career did, she has continued to support the theater community throughout her life. She has been a supporter of the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS organization for many years, and has even hosted their annual Easter Bonnet Competition fundraiser.

In 2019, Kotb participated in a one-night-only benefit reading of the play "Love Letters" on Broadway. The performance raised money for the Actors Fund, which provides support and services to performing arts professionals and those in need in the entertainment industry.

Despite her busy schedule at NBC, Kotb still finds time to attend theater performances whenever she can. She often shares her love for live theater on social media, and has encouraged her followers to support the arts during these difficult times.

As someone who has found success in both journalism and the performing arts, Hoda Kotb serves as an inspiration to those pursuing their passions in any field. Her dedication to supporting the theater community is just one example of how she uses her platform to make a positive impact on the world.
