Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters is a professional baseball team based in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. The team plays in the Pacific League and has been an integral part of Japanese baseball since its inception in 1946.

The origin of the team can be traced back to the Yomiuri Giants' farm team founded by newspaper tycoon and founder of Yomiuri Giants Matsutaro Shoriki. In 1961, the team was renamed Nishitetsu Lions, primarily sponsored by the Nishi-Nippon Railroad Company. However, after the fusion of Nankai Hawks and Kintetsu Buffaloes in 2004, creating the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks and the Orix Buffaloes, respectively, Nishitetsu Lions was also forced to merge with another franchise.
