Jay Chandrasekhar is an accomplished American comedian, actor, writer, and director. He is known for his work as a founding member of the comedy troupe Broken Lizard, as well as his role as Barry Foster in the hit film "Super Troopers."

Chandrasekhar was born in Hinsdale, Illinois, but spent much of his childhood in Chicago. He attended Colgate University and studied economics, but it was during this time that he began to explore comedy as a career path. Along with several other students, he formed the comedy group Charred Goosebeak and began performing around campus.

After graduation, Chandrasekhar moved to New York City to pursue his comedy dreams. It was there that he met the rest of the members of Broken Lizard: Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske. The group began performing at various venues around the city and generated a following through their irreverent and off-beat humor.

In 1996, Broken Lizard released their first feature film, "Puddle Cruiser," which they self-financed and shot on weekends over the course of a year. While it received mixed reviews, the film helped establish Broken Lizard as a force in the world of independent comedy.

Their next two films, "Super Troopers" and "Club Dread," were both modest commercial successes, but it was "Super Troopers" that truly put Broken Lizard on the map. Chandrasekhar directed the film and also starred as Vermont State Trooper Barry Foster. The film's quirky humor and memorable catchphrases (such as "Do you boys like Mexico?") made it a cult classic and helped cement Chandrasekhar's status as a comedic talent.

Since then, Chandrasekhar has continued to write, direct, and act in a variety of projects. He has helmed several episodes of the hit TV show "Arrested Development," as well as the 2005 film "The Dukes of Hazzard" and the 2018 Netflix comedy "Game Over, Man!" He has also made appearances in films such as "Beerfest" and "Reno 911!: Miami."

Overall, Jay Chandrasekhar is a versatile and talented comedian who has made a name for himself through his work with Broken Lizard and beyond. His humor is offbeat and irreverent, and his ability to direct and act in his own projects sets him apart as a truly unique comedic voice.
