Jean-Marie Zeitouni is a renowned conductor and one of the most significant figures in the field of classical music today. He has established himself as an accomplished musician with decades of experience and has traveled the world conducting some of the most prestigious orchestras. Zeitouni's love affair with classical music began at an early age. Growing up in Lorraine, France, he was exposed to classical music and the arts through his family and community. During his teenage years, he moved to Montreal, Canada, where he fell in love with the country's rich musical heritage. His interest in music would eventually lead him to study music composition at the Université de Montréal. In 1989, while still a student, Zeitouni co-founded the Ensemble contemporain de Montréal (ECM+) – a contemporary classical music ensemble dedicated to promoting new works by Canadian composers.

As Zeitouni's reputation grew, he received an invitation to become music director and conductor of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra in 1998. Under his leadership, the orchestra flourished, gaining recognition for its high-quality performances and innovative programming. In 2007, Zeitouni was appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, and two years later, he became Music Director of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. Throughout his career, Zeitouni has conducted many notable orchestras, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and the San Francisco Symphony.

In addition to his work as a conductor, Zeitouni has been an advocate for contemporary classical music, working to promote the work of young, emerging composers. He has also been active in promoting the work of women composers and championing diversity in the classical music industry.

Zeitouni has received numerous awards and accolades for his work, including the Governor General's Performing Arts Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement in Classical Music. He has also been nominated for several Juno Awards – Canada's most prestigious music award – for his work as a conductor.
