Jeff Mauro may be best known as a chef and television personality, but he has a deep connection to the world of theater. Born and raised in Chicago, Mauro got his start in the industry as a young actor, participating in local productions and taking drama classes throughout his childhood.

While attending Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, Mauro continued to pursue his passion for theater, performing in numerous productions on campus and around town. After graduating with a degree in communications, he moved back to Chicago and joined the Second City improv comedy troupe, where he honed his comedic skills and developed an understanding of the power of live performance.

Eventually, Mauro transitioned out of acting and into the culinary world, opening a deli in Chicago and earning acclaim for his creative sandwiches and clever twists on classic dishes. He went on to win the seventh season of the Food Network's "Food Network Star" competition, and has since become a fixture on the network with his own show, "The Kitchen," as well as regular appearances on other programs.

Despite his success in the food world, Mauro's love for theater has never waned. In fact, he often incorporates elements of performance into his cooking demonstrations and television segments, using humor and storytelling to engage viewers and keep them entertained.

Mauro also remains actively involved in Chicago's theater scene, serving as a board member of the Joseph Jefferson Awards Committee, which recognizes excellence in Chicagoland theater.
