Jerry Allison is a renowned musician and songwriter who has made his mark as one of the pioneers of rock and roll music. Born on August 31, 1939, in Hillsboro, Texas, Jerry was a drummer and founding member of the famous band, The Crickets. He gained popularity with the band in the late 1950s and early 1960s when they performed some of their best hits like "That'll Be the Day" and "Peggy Sue" all around the world.

Allison’s talent shone even brighter while he was performing live at concerts. His drumming skills were exceptional, and his performances were usually electrifying. He didn't only provide the rhythm but also harmonized well with his bandmates Buddy Holly, Joe Mauldin, Niki Sullivan, and later Sonny Curtis.

One of the most notable concerts Jerry Allison played with The Crickets was the Winter Dance Party tour in 1959. It was an extensive tour that began on January 23 and ended on February 15, covering several states in the Midwest and Northwest regions of the United States. The tour bus broke down several times due to the harsh winter conditions, forcing the band and other performers such as Dion DiMucci and Ritchie Valens to travel by planes and trains to make their various shows. It was during this tour that the tragic plane crash occurred that took the lives of Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens on February 3, 1959.

After the tragedy, Jerry continued to perform with The Crickets, although their popularity had dwindled. They regrouped and ventured into new creative approaches, including psychedelic rock, which earned them some recognition. By the late 1960s and early 1970s, Jerry had honed his songwriting skills, co-writing hits like "Leaving Louisiana in the Broad Daylight" (recorded by Emmylou Harris) and "Sail Away" (recorded by Linda Ronstadt).
