Jonathan McPhee is an accomplished conductor, known for his work in the field of classical music. He has conducted a wide range of musical works over his career, ranging from operas to orchestral arrangements and chamber works.

McPhee’s passion for classical music began early in life. Growing up in Cleveland, Ohio, he was introduced to the world of music at a young age. His mother, a trained singer, took him to see performances by the Cleveland Orchestra on a regular basis. The experience made a lasting impression on McPhee and instilled in him a love of classical music that continues to this day.

After graduating from high school, McPhee attended Oberlin College, where he majored in flute performance. During his time at Oberlin, he joined the Oberlin Conservatory Orchestra and began conducting rehearsals for the ensemble. He also studied under some of the top conductors in the industry, including Leonard Bernstein and Seiji Ozawa.

Following graduation, McPhee moved to Boston to attend the Boston University School of Music. While there, he continued to develop his conducting skills and worked with several local orchestras. His hard work eventually paid off when he was appointed as the artistic director and conductor of the Portland Symphony Orchestra in Maine.

During his tenure with the Portland Symphony Orchestra, McPhee led the ensemble in dozens of performances each year, including operas, ballets, and symphony concerts. He also worked tirelessly to bring classical music to new audiences, conducting youth concerts and outreach programs throughout the region.

In addition to his work with the Portland Symphony Orchestra, McPhee has also conducted for numerous other orchestras and ensembles around the world. He has worked with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, and the Russian National Orchestra, among others.

Throughout his career, McPhee has remained passionate about classical music and the profound impact it can have on people’s lives. He believes that music has the power to unite people from all walks of life and create a sense of community.

In addition to his conducting work, McPhee is also an accomplished composer and arranger. He has written a number of pieces for both orchestra and chamber ensembles, including “Souls of Fire” and “Concerto for Double Bass and Orchestra.”

McPhee continues to be a major force in the world of classical music, inspiring audiences around the world through his artistry and dedication to his craft. His contributions to the industry have helped to keep the rich tradition of classical music alive and have ensured its enduring popularity for generations to come.
