Lithics, or stone tools, may seem like an unlikely topic when it comes to concerts. However, the use of lithics has played a significant role in the history and development of music and musical instruments.

The earliest known musical instruments were made from stone materials, such as flutes made from bone or ivory, or percussion instruments made from rocks and shells. These instruments were used by early humans for religious ceremonies, rituals, and entertainment.

As humanity advanced and moved towards more complex forms of music, lithics continued to play a role. One notable example is the use of lithic percussion instruments in world music genres such as African drumming and Native American powwow music. Lithic instruments such as hand-carved wooden marimbas are also popular in Latin American and Caribbean music.

Lithics have even made their way into modern pop culture, with rock bands like The Rolling Stones incorporating stones and lithic-inspired imagery into their branding.

So, while they may not be at the forefront of our minds when we attend a concert, lithics play an important role in the history and evolution of music and music venues. Without these stone tools, we may not have some of the iconic sounds and experiences that we enjoy today.
