On Thursday, June 1st, The London Gold Cup Lunch took place at The Dorchester Hotel in London. The event aims to recognize and celebrate the excellence and dedication of sports individuals from all over United Kingdom.
The lunch was host by Jamie Redknapp and former England cricketer Michael Vaughan. The two celebrities were joined by some of the biggest names in British sport including football legend Sir Alex Ferguson and golfer Rory McIlroy among others.
The annual event is organized by CSM Live, an agency that specializes in live events, advertising and marketing both in United Kingdom and worldwide. The lunch also supports a charity called the Willow Foundation, which profits go to benefit the needs of seriously ill young people between the ages of 16 and 40.
The afternoon was filled with laughter and socializing as attendees enjoyed an exquisite three course meal while listening to interviews with some of the sporting greats as well as watching video highlights of the best moments in UK sports in the previous years.
Michael Vaughan shared his thoughts about the event saying: “It’s always nice to come together in recognition of everyone's achievements in the world of sports. It’s never easy to play at the highest level, it requires hard work and dedication.”
Many individual athletes were praised for their exceptional performances throughout the year, including British Athletics golden girl Mo Farah who has dominated the field over recent years.
Overall, the lunch was a huge success, and those who attended celebrated not only the successes of individual sportspeople, but also the power of sports in bringing people together and returning value to the community.
