Masaaki Suzuki is one of the most prominent names in the world of classical music, particularly when it comes to his expertise in the field of Baroque music. Born in Kobe, Japan, Suzuki studied at the Tokyo University of the Arts before moving on to study Organ and harpsichord at the Amsterdam Sweelinck Conservatory.

Suzuki's passion for early music began in his childhood after being introduced to the works of Bach and Vivaldi by his father. Over the years, he honed his craft, became a sought-after conductor, and achieved an international reputation for his interpretations of Baroque music.

An expert in the interpretation and performance of Bach’s cantatas, Suzuki founded the Bach Collegium Japan in 1990. The ensemble is known for its internationally acclaimed recordings of Bach’s works that are renowned for their historical context, period-instrument performances, and reliability from all aspects.

While Suzuki's specialty is in Baroque music, his repertoire spans across several eras and genres. He is also recognized as a master interpreter of Mozart, Beethoven, and other famous composers.

As of today, Suzuki's work has received critical acclaim and awards from numerous organizations worldwide. In 2012, he was honored with the Royal Academy of Music’s prestigious Bach Prize, recognizing his significant contributions to the performance and interpretation of Johann Sebastian Bach.

He is expected to complete this by the end of 2021, and Bach Collegium Japan is in talks to perform 200 performances of the full cantatas cycle worldwide.
