The Masters 2015 quarterfinals on Thursday, April 9th, were eagerly anticipated by sports enthusiasts all over the world. The third match of the day featured the Swiss superstar and four-time champion Roger Federer against the Frenchman Gael Monfils. Federer powered through the first two sets with some excellent shots but stumbled in the third set, leading to concerns of another meltdown that has plagued his career recently. However, he composed himself and ended up winning the match 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, showing that the old Federer magic is still intact at age 38.

The final match of the day had world number four Stan Wawrinka up against the rising American star Jack Sock. Wawrinka proved too much for Sock from the start, winning 6-2, 6-4 in an hour-long match. He will now face countryman Federer in the semifinals on Saturday.
