Milwaukee Iron, also known as the Milwaukee Iron Arena Football team, was a professional indoor football team that played in the Arena Football League (AFL) from 2009 to 2012. The team was based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and played their home games at the U.S. Cellular Arena (now known as the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena).

The Milwaukee Iron had a short but interesting history in the AFL. They were founded by Michael Lish and Jay Loeffler, who both had experience with owning minor league baseball teams. The team had high hopes for success in the AFL, but they struggled during their first season in 2009, finishing with a 5-11 record.

In their second season, the team improved its record to 11-5, making the playoffs for the first time. However, they lost in the first round to the Orlando Predators. The team continued to improve in their next two seasons, making the playoffs each year and making it to the conference championship game in 2011, where they lost to the Jacksonville Sharks.

Despite their on-field success, the Milwaukee Iron faced financial challenges throughout their existence. In 2012, as the AFL was going through a reorganization, the team announced it would not be returning for the 2013 season due to financial issues.

Despite the team's short existence, the Milwaukee Iron left a lasting impact on the city of Milwaukee and the AFL. The team brought a new level of excitement to the city's sports scene and provided fans with memorable moments, such as quarterback Chris Greisen breaking the league's single-season touchdown record in 2011.

Overall, while the Milwaukee Iron may have only been around for a few years, they will always be remembered as a significant part of the city's sports history and the legacy of the Arena Football League.
