New Canadian Global Music Orchestra Tickets

The newly formed Canadian Global Music Orchestra is a unique musical endeavor that seeks to explore the rich cultural diversity present in Canada. For example, on their debut album, “Traverse,” the orchestra presents a fascinating fusion of Chinese folk music and Western classical music with “The Emperor's Fantasy”. The piece opens with a solo erhu rendition of a renowned Ming Dynasty melody called "Tangyue Banquet". The erhu is soon joined by a string quartet playing flowing counterpoint and beautiful harmonic alignment. This combines the transparency of Eastern-style melody with the profundity of Western-style harmony.

Another track on the album, “Yenni Salah,” showcases the diverse backgrounds of the orchestra members. The piece begins with an African riff that is then transformed by the addition of a string quartet, percussion, sitar, and tabla, creating an entirely new sound experience.
