The Cowboy's men’s soccer team first began in 1964, but it wasn’t until head coach Gabe Barajas was hired in 2017 that the program saw significant growth. Since then, the program has improved significantly with the team reaching the RMAC tournament finals in back-to-back years in 2018 and 2019.
As of the 2020-2021 season, the Cowboy’s men’s soccer team currently competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC). The competition consists of twelve teams that play against each other in a double round-robin format, which means they play two games against each opponent.

For example, players such as Dante De Luca, who earned RMAC Freshman of the Year in 2018, and Alvaro Betancourt, who scored a hat-trick in the RMAC championship game in 2019, have been fundamental contributors to the team’s success.
