The Orlando Rage was an American professional football team that played in the Xtreme Football League (XFL) during its inaugural and only season in 2001. The XFL was a joint venture between NBC and World Wrestling Federation (now WWE) aimed at offering a more high-octane and physical version of football.

The Orlando Rage was based in Orlando, Florida, and played their home games at the Citrus Bowl. They were coached by former NFL player and coach Galen Hall, who led them to an impressive 8-2 record during the regular season.

The team's name, "Rage," came from the idea that they would play ferociously and aggressively, with no holds barred. The team's logo featured a snarling, angry-looking bulldog, which symbolized this intensity.

While the XFL's short-lived existence is often remembered for its gimmicky aspects, such as players wearing nicknames on their jerseys and the use of sky-cams, the football itself was surprisingly competitive. The Orlando Rage proved to be one of the league's best teams, thanks to a potent offense and a strong defense.

Quarterback Jeff Brohm led the offense, throwing for over 2,200 yards and 18 touchdowns in just ten games. Running back Derrick Clark ran for over 700 yards and scored six touchdowns, while receiver Damon Gibson caught 58 passes for 841 yards and nine touchdowns.

On defense, the Rage was anchored by linebacker James Burgess, who had eight sacks and two interceptions. Defensive lineman Jermaine Smith also had a standout season, with seven sacks and 28 tackles.

The Orlando Rage made it to the XFL Championship Game, where they faced the Los Angeles Xtreme. Despite a valiant effort, the Rage lost 38-6, as the Xtreme proved too dominant in all phases of the game.

Unfortunately, the championship game would be the last time the Orlando Rage took the field. Along with the rest of the XFL, they were disbanded after just one season due to financial losses and lack of fan interest.

Despite their short existence, the Orlando Rage left a lasting impact on football fans who remember the XFL fondly. With their intense playing style and impressive record, they proved that the league had the potential to produce quality football. While the XFL may be gone, the Rage's legacy lives on in the memories of those who witnessed their brief but exciting run.
