Born in Hawaii, Quinn Kelsey grew up surrounded by music. His mother was a piano teacher, and although he initially pursued a career in football, a love for music eventually took hold. He started singing in church choirs and slowly began to realize that classical music was his true calling.
His passion for opera was further fueled by studying at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. Following this, he went on to win several competitions, including the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 2000 and the Richard Tucker Award in 2015.
Kelsey has performed with some of the world's most prestigious opera companies, including the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Teatro alla Scala, and the San Francisco Opera, among others. He has established a reputation for his portrayals of Verdi roles, particularly Rigoletto, which he has played multiple times to critical acclaim.
In addition to his impressive operatic career, Kelsey is also a passionate advocate for music education and outreach programs. He has worked with organizations such as the Hawaii Youth Opera Chorus and the Lyric Opera of Chicago's Community Engagement Programs, seeking to inspire the next generation of classical musicians.
