Following the release of the Lifetime docuseries "Surviving R. Kelly" in Jan 2019, which detailed accounts from several alleged victims, many fans and industry professionals have spoken out against supporting the artist, leading to cancellations of multiple concerts and tours.
In Feb 2019, Kelly's team announced the cancellation of several dates on his "King of R&B Tour" due to poor ticket sales and "unforeseen circumstances". This was followed by the cancellation of his entire European tour by his promoter due to "scheduling conflicts".
Despite these setbacks, Kelly continued to hold concerts in the US, including shows in his hometown of Chicago and at the Greensboro Coliseum in North Carolina. These events were met with both protests and support, with some fans insisting that they separate Kelly's personal life from his music.
However, as allegations against Kelly continue to mount, pressure has increased for venues and promoters to cancel his shows. In May 2019, Kelly was removed from the lineup of the 2019 Love Jam concert in Illinois, following a backlash from local residents.
