Red Fern Half and 5K 2017 Tickets

On April 22nd 2017, the Red Fern Half and 5K race brought together athletes from all over the country. The event, organized by RaceRise, offered runners the opportunity to choose between the half-marathon or 5K, both of which began on the scenic campus of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.

The half-marathon course took runners through the rolling hills and picturesque countryside of Payne County, while the 5K course remained on the OSU campus. Both routes provided a great challenge for participants. The race was particularly rigorous for some individuals because of the topography of the running paths. This challenge only served to push racers to perform at their best.

Even with the challenging terrain, many runners performed exceptionally well. Steve Strickland won the men's half-marathon with an impressive time of 1:16:57, followed closely by David McMullen with a time of 1:17:29. The women's half-marathon winner was Rachel Heinz with a time of 1:27:15 and close behind her was Kristin Roth with a time of 1:28:20.

In the 5K, Kyle Joslin, who has competed in numerous races across the United States, took first place with an unbeatable time of 18:11. Ashleigh Waterman, a resident of Oklahoma City, came out on top in the women’s 5K with a time of 20:25.

With the diverse range of ages and abilities of the runners participating, there were also various notable personalities present for the event, including veterans, children, casual runners and serious marathoners all taking the starting line.

The Red Fern Half and 5K is an excellent example of how sports can bring people together from all walks of life. Regardless of age, ability, or athletic background, every participant brought their unique strengths to the competition.
