The Roanoke Maroons basketball team may not be a household name in college basketball, but they have a rich history and competitive program that should not be overlooked. This Division III team from Roanoke College in Virginia has been playing since 1906 and currently competes in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC).

In recent years, the Maroons have had considerable success on the court. In the 2019-2020 season, they finished with a 22-5 record and were ranked nationally among Division III teams. Their success can be attributed to their strong defense, which led the ODAC in fewest points allowed per game and field goal percentage defense.

One particular standout player for the Maroons is senior guard Josh Freund, who was named ODAC Player of the Year in the 2019-2020 season. Freund was a dominant force on both ends of the court, averaging 14.7 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game while also being a lockdown defender.
